Vickram talks about the Camp

Who Am I?

A fundamental question, which has been with us like a faithful friend, since time immemorial. And growing up in a culture different from your own adds a whole new dimension to this question, one that begs many answers. Hinduism is more a way of life than a religion. And Questions have been the cornerstones of our greatest epics, what better example than Arjuna’s question to Krishna in the Mahabharata, which causes Him to reveal the Bhagavad Gita.

It is to kindle this curiosity that the idea of this Winter Camp was born, that and to help our younger generation discover the breadth and depth of this ocean that the world knows as ‘Hinduism’.

Hinduism – perhaps the oldest and most scientific of all religions, where every question is revered, and perhaps every question has been answered, it’s just about finding the right answer.

It’s not all serious however, there is also song & dance, clay modelling, drama and nature-walks to help the children make the most of the 3-days. The camp will culminate with a  series of performances, where our youngsters will be able to showcase what they have learnt in this brief time.

Early experiences can be transformational, and this dip into the Hindu way of life seeks to help bring about a paradigm shift in their perception of Hinduism, as a religion and a way of life. They will emerge stronger, more confident, and more equipped to deal with life. And of course, with more questions… questions that will need answering!
